Book Review: The Dark Side of Christian Counseling

I have posted above audio versions of my review of E. S. Williams, The Dark Side of Christian Counseling (Wakeman Trust & Belmont House Publishing, 2009).

I have also posted to academia.edu the written version which appeared in the Reformed Baptist Trumpet, Vol. 1, No. 1 (2010): 9-10. Read it here.

Dr. Riddle, thanks for posting this.

I read, or dipped into, this book back in the 90's... much harm has come from "Christian" counselling, at least the sort that borrows from the philosophy of the world and re-brands + re-circulates it as being "Biblical".

Man’s problems are never fixed by man’s ways.

“Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.” – Colossians 2:8

How vitally important are the means of grace and a faithful ministry to proclaim His glory, uphold God’s people and those that need Him... Lord’s Day by Lord’s Day!
