July Garden Produce

Tomatoes ripening in the window.

I love reaching the point in the summer when you actually begin to harvest, preserve, and eat the things you've grown.

Tomatoes still on the vine.

Cherry tomatoes.

This looks absolutely wonderful! I have some tomato plants and peppers, but they're all under glass.... otherwise they'd all be dead!

Are you supposed to take the tomatoes off the plant and allow them to ripen off the plant (Can you tell I'm a real novice?!) I assumed you left them until they were ready, like strawberries, but I haven't a clue!

What wonderful harvest you have here :)

Thanks for the comment. It has been great to eat fresh vegetables straight from the garden. We had tomato soup today that my wife made from our garden that was wonderful.

BTW, you can let them ripen on the vine. I think my wife just took some off to ripen inside to thin out the plants.

It is a beautiful world our Lord has made. We love the scenes on your blog from Scotland. Very different from the red clay here in the Virginia foothills where it is currently very hot and muggy--but it makes for good vegetables!
